The product is purified through workup and then recrystallized from azeotropic mixture of methyl acetate and carbon dioxide. The product is characterized by multigram scale reactions with reproducible results. This compound has been optimized for use as a solvent in organic synthesis, due to its high boiling point, low volatility, and low toxicity.
