2-(2-Bromophenyl)naphthalene is a fatty acid decarbonylation catalyst that selectively converts carboxylic acids to their corresponding alkene. This reaction is catalyzed by a nickel carbonyl supported on an alumina support. The catalyst was investigated for deodorization of hydrocarbons and found to be highly selective, with high yields of the desired products.
