Descrição:2-Methyl-3-(4-methylphenyl)-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one is a benzoyl peroxide derivative that is used as a thermal stabilizer in polymers. It is prepared by bromination of 2-methyl-3-(4-methylphenyl) quinazoline and then reacting the bromine with benzoyl peroxide. 2-Methyl-3-(4-methylphenyl)-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for the hydrobromic acid catalyzed conversion of benzoyl chlorides to their corresponding peroxyacids.
