Fenticonazole is a nitrate antifungal drug that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of vaginal candidiasis. Fenticonazole is active against Candida species, including C. glabrata and C. krusei, as well as other pathogens, such as Trichosporon beigelii and Aspergillus fumigatus. Fenticonazole has an anti-inflammatory effect on an experimental model of inflammation caused by Candida albicans, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
Fenticonazole is also active in vitro against c. albicans and A. fumigatus, but not T. beigelii or P. ovale, at concentrations of 0.5-1μM and 1-2μM respectively.br>br>
