The compound has been found to be useful in the translation of proteins and transfer of genetic information between cells. N-(4-Acetyl-4,5-dihydro-5-methyl-5-phenyl 1,3,4thiadiazo l 2 yl)acetamide is a substrate for translation by the ribosome and is also capable of binding to the ribosome with high affinity.
