AR-13324 mesylate is an ophthalmic drug that belongs to the class of mesylates. It is a potent hypotensive agent and has shown efficacy in lowering intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. AR-13324 mesylate has also been found to be photostable and well tolerated by patients. The safety profile of this active compound has been demonstrated statistically, with no adverse events reported in the phase III clinical trial. AR-13324 mesylate is an active ingredient of the drug Carteolol, which is a combination of timolol maleate and AR-13324 mesylate. This combination has been shown to have a greater effect on intraocular pressure than either component alone, with decreased side effects such as photophobia, blurred vision, and tearing.
