Hinokiflavone pentamethyl ether is a natural phenolic compound found in the leaves of Indian sandalwood. The compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for the treatment of cuticle inflammation. It is also an inhibitor of cupressuflavone and ochnaflavone, two closely related flavones that are involved in plant growth. Hinokiflavone pentamethyl ether has also been shown to inhibit fluorescence in plant tissues, which may be due to its ability to form dipole bonds with solvent molecules.
