2,3,5,6-Tetramethylphenylboronic acid is an organic compound that is used in the manufacture of solar cells and photodetectors. It is also used in transistors for transmitting electronic signals. The electron density of 2,3,5,6-tetramethylphenylboronic acid is high and it has a low molecular weight. This makes it a good candidate for use in polymers. 2,3,5,6-Tetramethylphenylboronic acid can be made into a heteroaromatic substituent by reacting with ammonia borane or trimethylamine borane. These reactions produce the corresponding aminoborane which can be polymerized to form polymers with good electron mobility and high charge transport ability.
