(3aS)-3a-Hydroxy-1-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-6-methyl-2,3-dihydropyrrolo[2,3-b]quinolin-4-one (KG298) is a small molecule inhibitor of ATPase. The photolabile nature of the compound makes it an excellent candidate for optimization in order to improve water solubility and reduce the potential for degradation by light. This drug has been shown to inhibit ATPase activity in vitro and can be used as a research tool for studying ATPase activity in myosin or other biomolecules. KG298 also has low water solubility that can be improved by optimizing its structure.
