Martynoside is a natural compound that is isolated from the roots of Angelica Dahurica, Radix Notoginseng, and Cimicifuga foetida. It has antioxidative properties and has been shown to inhibit polymerase chain reaction (PCR), as well as to have response elements in the promoter region of genes. Martynoside also inhibits the activity of certain enzymes, such as caffeic acid synthase and fructus ligustri esterase. Martynoside is often used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and traumatic brain injury.
