Prosaikogenin H is a saponin that is found in the roots of plants in the genus Saiko. This compound has been shown to have an orally active form, which can be used as a therapeutic agent for treating red blood cells. It is also reported to have anti-inflammatory effects and may inhibit tumor growth. Prosaikogenin H has been shown to have hemolytic activity, as well as triterpenoid compounds that are structurally similar to saikosaponin B2. It also has been shown to be effective in inhibiting intestinal bacteria and high-performance liquid chromatography analyses demonstrate that it can bind to red blood cells.
