Afuresertib is a nitrile-containing heterocyclic compound. It has been shown to have a high degree of efficacy in the reduction of target products in the environment, and has been used industrially as an intermediate for the production of other compounds. Afuresertib has been shown to be an effective agent against cancerous cells, and is currently undergoing clinical trials. The drug was designed by replacing the chlorine atom with a nitrile group, which makes it chiral.
