PT2385 is a drug that has shown potent antitumor activity in animal models against renal cell carcinoma, breast cancer, and melanoma. PT2385 binds to the m2 receptor and inhibits the proliferation of tumor cells by interfering with their metabolism. PT2385 also has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of mouse tumors. The active metabolite of PT2385 is a potent inhibitor of influenza virus replication and exhibits anti-inflammatory effects in collagen gel studies when administered at high doses. PT2385 is not active against bacteria or fungi, but it has shown to be effective against some viruses such as herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) and HIV-1.
