The Syk inhibitor is a synthetic, non-peptide compound that inhibits the tyrosine kinase Syk. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of bowel disease and inflammation. The Syk Inhibitor binds to and blocks the activity of the enzyme by competitive inhibition, which leads to apoptosis. The drug has been shown to inhibit inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, TNFα, IL-6 and IL-2, which are involved in the development of inflammatory bowel disease. The Syk Inhibitor also has anti-inflammatory effects on spleen cells by reducing proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-12 and TNFα. This drug may have an effect on blood pressure and should be monitored during treatment with other drugs that affect blood pressure.
