UNC3866 is a chemical inhibitor of the enzyme histone protein lysine demethylase 1 (LSD1). It is an analog of sorafenib, which inhibits the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. UNC3866 has been shown to inhibit the growth of malignant brain tumors and renal injury in rats. This drug also inhibits squamous carcinoma, as well as prostate cancer cells that are resistant to other anti-cancer drugs. The molecular target for UNC3866 is the homologous protein Grp78, which regulates gene expression by catalyzing the conversion of H4K20me2 to H4K20me1. This inhibition prevents activation of genes that are associated with tumorigenesis.
