5-(Hexadecanoylamino)fluorescein is a fluorescent molecule that is widely used as a marker for cell localization, apical localization, and cellular localization. It is also used as a marker for fatty acids, immobilization, and choroidal neovascularization. 5-(Hexadecanoylamino)fluorescein has been shown to be useful in the diagnosis of monoclonal antibody-associated fluidity changes in ventricular myocytes. This dye is reversibly bound to the biological membrane and can be used to study the stability of cell monolayers.
