11(R)-Hydroxy-5(Z),8(Z),12(E),14(Z)-eicosatetraenoic acid (11-HETE) is a potent anticancer agent that inhibits the activity of kinases involved in cancer cell growth and proliferation. It acts as an analog to other kinase inhibitors, blocking the activity of these enzymes and inducing apoptosis in tumor cells. 11-HETE has been shown to be effective against various types of cancer, including Chinese hamster ovary cells and human prostate cancer cells. This compound also exhibits protein kinase inhibitor activity, which may contribute to its anticancer properties. Additionally, 11-HETE has been detected in urine samples of patients taking abacavir, suggesting a possible role in drug metabolism.
