1-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenethylamino)-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenoxy)-2-propanol (CGP3466B) is a cardiotonic agent that has been shown to increase the contractility of cardiac muscle. It also has a positive inotropic effect on cardiac tissue, thereby increasing the strength of contraction and pumping capacity. CGP3466B is used for the treatment of cachexia in animals. Cachexia is a condition characterized by weight loss and muscle atrophy. This drug modulates acetylcholine levels in the brain and has been shown to have a beneficial effect on metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus. CGP3466B can be administered orally or intravenously. The plasma concentrations peak at approximately 4 hours after administration and then decline exponentially with a half-life of 18 hours. When given orally, this drug reaches maximal concentrations in the blood within 3 hours and remains there up to 12 hours
