Azimilide is a research chemical known for its antiestrogen properties. It belongs to the class of pyridinium aldehyde compounds and has been shown to inhibit the action of caffeine on α-pinene metabolism. Azimilide also acts as a potassium channel blocker, specifically blocking the hERG channel responsible for cardiac repolarization. This mechanism of action makes it useful in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation. Additionally, Azimilide has been found to have anabolic effects on skeletal muscle and may be used in combination with other steroids for performance enhancement purposes.
