JHDM Inhibitor VII, JIB-04 is a peptide inhibitor of caspase-9, a protein that participates in the apoptosis pathway. This inhibitor is used to study the mechanism of caspase-9 by inhibiting its activity and preventing cell death. It has been shown to inhibit the cathepsin L protease and the cysteine proteases cathepsin B and D, which are involved in the activation of caspase-3. JHDM Inhibitor VII, JIB-04 also binds to receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE), which is involved in inflammatory processes.
