Applications (3β)-Cholest-5-ene-3,17,20-triol 3-Acetate is an intermediate used in the synthesis of (20R)-17α,20-Dihydroxycholesterol (D450180), which is a derivative of 20α-Hydroxy Cholesterol (H918000), which has been shown to be important since it is an intermediate in the catabolic pathway of Cholesterol (C432501) to Pregnenolone (P712200) and thus to other steroidal hormones.
