Descripción:
Tilosina es un antibiótico macrólido utilizado principalmente en medicina veterinaria, particularmente para ganado y aves de corral, para tratar infecciones bacterianas y promover el crecimiento. Se deriva de la bacteria *Streptomyces fradiae* y exhibe un amplio espectro de actividad contra bacterias Gram-positivas y algunas Gram-negativas. Tilosina funciona inhibiendo la síntesis de proteínas en las bacterias, evitando así su crecimiento y reproducción. La sustancia se administra típicamente en forma de su sal de tartrato, que mejora su solubilidad. Tilosina es conocido por su relativamente baja toxicidad en animales, pero su uso está regulado en animales productores de alimentos para prevenir residuos de antibióticos en productos cárnicos. Además, se ha estudiado por sus posibles aplicaciones en acuicultura y como aditivo alimentario. Su estructura química presenta un gran anillo de lactona, característico de los macrólidos, que contribuye a sus propiedades antibacterianas. Al igual que con muchos antibióticos, la aparición de resistencia es una preocupación, lo que requiere una gestión cuidadosa de su uso en prácticas agrícolas.
