It can also be used to produce hydrogen peroxide from hydroxylamine and 2,5-dichloro-4-hydroxypyridine. The hydroxylation of alcohols with 2,5-dichloro-4-hydroxypyridine produces the corresponding n-oxides or peroxides in high yield. This reaction is regioselective, meaning it will only occur at one position on the molecule.

It has been shown to inhibit transcription of the methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) profiles, as well as transcriptional and translational activities of Streptococcus epidermidis and Streptococcus pyogenes. 5-Aminoisoindolin-1-one inhibits bacterial growth by binding to ribosomes, preventing protein synthesis and cell division. Its antibacterial properties have been shown using in vitro experiments to inhibit the growth of MSSA, MRSA, Streptococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Escherichia coli. This drug also integrates into RNA molecules and may be effective against bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics.
