Éthinylestradiol est un œstrogène synthétique, principalement utilisé dans les contraceptifs hormonaux et la thérapie de remplacement hormonal. Il se caractérise par son activité œstrogénique puissante, qui est significativement plus forte que celle de l'estradiol naturel. Éthinylestradiol est une poudre cristalline blanche à blanc cassé qui est peu soluble dans l'eau mais soluble dans des solvants organiques tels que l'éthanol et l'acétone.
