It has been shown to have clinical properties and is used in pharmaceutical preparations as an antimicrobial agent. 1-Myristoyl-rac-glycerol has been found to be active against gram negative bacteria such as E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, while being inactive against gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Bacillus subtilis.
