The TargetMol compound libraries

The TargetMol compound libraries

Compound librariesare collections of compounds used in very demanding screens to efficiently identify molecules of interest.

TargetMol has a wide variety of compound libraries, which are classified into 4 main families: bioactive compound libraries, natural product libraries, fragment libraries and custom compound libraries.

TargetMol compound libraries are delivered with their corresponding documentation (including Excel sheets, SDD files and instructions for use) and can be packaged in different formats depending on the desired amount of product.

In this post, we will focus on three specific compound libraries.

  • Authorised drug library: new drug discovery and development requires a very demanding screening of compounds for new drug candidates, as well as being regulated processes with many safety and efficacy laws. For this reason, research into new applications for already approved drugs, whose effectiveness and safety are known, is also of great importance to the pharmaceutical industry.

This library is designed for this type of research and consists of a collection of 2356 approved drugs covering various areas of interest such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, neuroscience, immunology, etc.

In addition, all the information about the target of these compounds, their activity, structure, etc. is also available.

  • Parkinson's disease compound library:Parkinson's disease is the most common neurodegenerative movement disease and affects approximately 1% of the population over the age of 60 and about 5% of the population over the age of 85. The causes that trigger the disease are currently unknown, but it is known that there are genetic and environmental factors that may increase the likelihood of developing the disease. In addition, Parkinson's is currently a disease without a cure, the treatment of which is focused on reducing the symptoms.

This TargetMol compound library contains 184 compounds with anti-Pakinsonian activity or acting on the main pharmacological targets of this disease.

  • Natural compound library for HTS:natural products are and have historically been a great starting point for sourcing new chemicals and screening for new compounds with pharmacological activity.

This TargetMol library has a collection of 2960 naturally occurring compounds with known biological activity and their derivatives. These compounds are structurally very diverse and include more than 30 different types of chemicals including alkaloids, terpenes, steroids, etc.

In addition, it includes full documentation, clearly indicating the source, structure, solubility, target, activity, etc. of all compounds.

These three examples are just a small sample of the more than one hundred libraries available in TargetMol. The use of these libraries can significantly reduce the cost and time of testing in research laboratories by allowing rapid screening of active compounds on the desired target.
