Acetyl-pepstatin is reported to be an effective inhibitor of HIV-1 proteinase (Ki = 20 nM at pH 4.7) and of HIV-2 proteinase (Ki = 5 nM at pH 4.7). Ac-Val-Val-Sta-Ala-Sta also inhibits the P. falciparum aspartyl protease plasmepsin II, IC50 0.6 nM.
