Platinum(IV) oxide hydrate is used in the conversion of ketones to methylenes by hydrogenolysis of enol triflates under neutral conditions. It is used as a catalyst for hydrosilylation of olefins with various alkyl dialkoxy silanes. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
