Calcium acetate hydrate is used as a precursor to produce calcium ions in the development of calcium oxide based mesoporous carbon dioxide sorbent. It is an active component of pyroligneous acid-modified limestone. It is employed in the preparation of magnetite-calcium phosphate core-shell nanoparticles. It serves as a raw material in the preparation of hydroxyapatite-wollastonite composites. Further, it acts as a crosslinking agent in the microfluidic production of alginate hydrogel microbeads. In addition to this, it is used to induce crystallization of proteins. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
