Its mechanism of action involves binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby inhibiting transcription and replication. It undergoes various metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases and glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome p450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
