8-epiAtazanavir is a synthetic antibiotic that is effective against Microorganisms, including bacteria and protozoa. 8-epiAtazanavir inhibits the synthesis of DNA by inhibiting the action of reverse transcriptase, preventing viral replication and transcription. 8-epiAtazanavir also has antiviral properties that are effective against Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and Influenza A virus type H5N1. It is not active against HIV or Hepatitis B virus.
