2-(2-(4-((4-chlorophenyl)(phenyl)methyl)-piperazin-1-yl)ethoxy)ethanol (2-PEPE) is a small molecule drug that has been shown to interact with the pharmacological agents hydroxyzine, digoxin, and warfarin. It is an analytical method for detecting drugs and their metabolites in wastewater. 2-PEPE can be used for the treatment of infectious diseases such as HIV, malaria, or tuberculosis. This drug also has been found to have physiological effects on the bowel and has been shown to affect peptide hormones and matrix effects. Receptors for 2-PEPE are found in the central nervous system and thyroid gland.
