N-Cyclohexyl-p-toluenesulphonamide is an activating agent that is used in the synthesis of amines. It is a trimethylating agent and activates hydrochloric acid to produce solvents. N-Cyclohexyl-p-toluenesulphonamide has been found to be useful for synthesizing anilines, yields are increased with the use of this agent. The reactivity of N-Cyclohexyl-p-toluenesulphonamide is dependent on the polar group and the number of amines on it. When cyclohexyl groups are present, the reactivity increases. This agent also activates hexadecyl groups and multilayer films with aniline monolayers. Sintering requires a high temperature and time, but can be decreased by using a reducing agent such as hydrogen or sodium borohydride.
