Description:

Benzo[f]quinoline is a quinoline derivative that can be used as an analytical reagent in the determination of methyl ketones. It is also a potential therapeutic agent, which has been shown to bind to rat liver microsomes and possess anti-inflammatory properties. The mechanism of benzo[f]quinoline's anti-inflammatory activity is not known, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of arachidonic acid metabolites. Benzo[f]quinoline can also be used for the synthesis of dihydrobenzofurans and related compounds, such as 1,4-dihydrobenzofuran.
