2,5-Dichloroaniline-4-sulfonic acid is a mutagenic and carcinogenic compound that has been shown to cause mutations at the TA100 locus in the presence of an amine. The compound has no biological activity by itself and requires activation by an amine such as methylamine or ethylamine. 2,5-Dichloroaniline-4-sulfonic acid is also sensitive to light exposure and can be used as a pH indicator due to its color change from yellow to red at pH levels below 6.8.
2,5-Dichloroaniline-4-sulfonic acid is a salt formed by the conjugation of two molecules, one anion and one cation. The conjugate base of 2,5 dichloroaniline sulfonic acid has centrosymmetric geometry with two anions on opposite sides of the molecule, making it symmetrical
