Product Information
2-((4-Methoxyphenyl)amino)-4-nitrobenzoic acid is a potent sperm cryopreservative that has been shown to be effective at maintaining the motility and morphology of spermatozoa when stored at temperatures below 0°C. This compound was also found to have no adverse effects on fertility in mice. 2-((4-Methoxyphenyl)amino)-4-nitrobenzoic acid is prepared by incubating 4-methoxybenzaldehyde with nitric acid, followed by reaction with ammonium hydroxide. The product precipitates as a white solid and can be purified by recrystallization from n-dimethyl formamide. It has been shown that this compound interacts with trehalose, a sugar that stabilizes proteins and cell membranes, which could increase its effectiveness as a cryoprotectant.
