Thonzylamine is an adenosine receptor antagonist that is used to treat symptoms of autoimmune diseases and inflammatory conditions. Thonzylamine has been shown to inhibit the production of fatty acids, which are needed for the synthesis of phospholipids, cholesterol, and steroids. The drug also inhibits the production of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are important in the formation of cell membranes. Thonzylamine also has a stimulant action on isolated heart muscle tissue and has been shown to be toxic in animals when administered at high doses.
