N1,N1-Diethyl-1,4-benzenediamine reacts with hydrochloric acid to generate hydrogen gas and diphenyl ether as a byproduct. The reaction mechanism for this reaction is unknown. This chemical compound can also be used to measure enzyme activities in human serum samples. Analytical methods for the determination of N1,N1-diethyl-1,4-benzenediamine include a flow system or an analytical method using sodium citrate and ethylene diamine.
