2-Benzyl-1,3-dioxolane (BEDO) is an organic compound that is used in coordination chemistry. It reacts with anisaldehyde to form a benzene ring and can be characterized by X-ray diffraction. The reaction of BEDO with methyl ethyl ketone results in the formation of a cyclic ether that has been used as a solvent for solvents such as acetone and chloroform. BEDO has shown high resistance to radiation and corrosion, which is attributed to its ability to form strong hydrogen bonds.
