Description:

3-(4-Isopropylphenyl)isobutyraldehyde is a geranyl compound that is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals. It has shown to have enzyme inhibitory activity, and can be used in structural biology studies. 3-(4-Isopropylphenyl)isobutyraldehyde has been shown to be stable in reaction solutions, and does not degrade even after months of storage at room temperature. This compound can also be encapsulated in microcapsules for use in biological samples. 3-(4-Isopropylphenyl)isobutyraldehyde is an aldehyde that reacts with trifluoroacetic acid and detergent compositions to form cationic surfactants, which are effective at passing through lipid bilayers by forming pores. These compounds can also pass through the cell membrane by being converted into fatty acid derivatives that bind to the receptor site on the ion channel of the cell membrane
