3-Cyclopentylpropionyl Chloride is an aliphatic hydrocarbon with a cyclopentane ring. It is used as a solvent for organic reactions and as a building block in the synthesis of esters, amides, and nitro compounds. 3-Cyclopentylpropionyl chloride also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and may be useful in treating autoimmune diseases. The chemical can be polymerized to form polymers with morpholine or potassium ion. 3-Cyclopentylpropionyl chloride reacts with thiomorpholine to form heterocycles that are 5-membered heteroaryl rings.
