Description:

Tetradecamethylhexasiloxane is a cationic surfactant that is used for the treatment of wastewater. It can be used to remove organic contaminants from wastewater by forming hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl groups of the compounds. Tetradecamethylhexasiloxane has been shown to be an effective catalyst for oxidation reactions and is often used as a solid catalyst in analytical chemistry. Tetradecamethylhexasiloxane also has properties that allow it to extract analytes from solid matrices, such as polymers or fibers, by forming hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl group on the surface of the analyte. This process is called solid phase microextraction (SPME).
