Description:

N-Allyl-2-hydroxybenzamide (N-allyl-2HB) is a synthetic ether that can be used as an intermediate for the synthesis of amides. The Grubbs catalyst is efficient in the conversion of N-allyl-2HB to amides, and this reaction proceeds with high yield under mild conditions. The metathesis reaction can also be used to synthesize N-allyl-2HB from other ethers, although yields are lower. These reactions are catalyzed by a membered macrocyclic catalyst.
