Description:
2-(Dimethylaminomethyl)phenol is a reactive chemical that is used as a sterilant. It reacts with a variety of compounds, including polycarboxylic acids and amines. The antioxidant activity of 2-(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol is related to its structure; it contains a hydroxyl group and cyclohexane ring. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the reaction between hydrogen peroxide and the hydroxyl radical, which would otherwise lead to the formation of hydroxyl radicals. This chemical also has antioxidative properties in response to the oxidation of hydrocarbons.
