N-Methyl-N-(4-nitrophenyl)acetamide is a hydrophobic molecule that is protonated in water. It has been shown to deactivate by binding to lipid micelles and deforming them, leading to the cessation of catalytic activity. The rate of N-methyl-N-(4-nitrophenyl)acetamide's reaction with the hydroxide ion is constant, as it does not react with the nitro groups. N-Methyl-N-(4-nitrophenyl)acetamide also does not react with itself or other molecules.
