Product Information
Sodium nitrobenzenesulfonate is the sodium salt of nitrobenzenesulfonic acid. It is an oxidizing agent with a pK a of 10.4, which can be used for the oxidation of alkali metals and inorganic compounds. This reagent can also be used to make esters from alcohols, amines, and carboxylic acids. Sodium nitrobenzenesulfonate reacts with isobutyl alcohol to form isobutyl nitrosodisulfonate. The product obtained after the reaction can then be hydrolyzed to produce isobutylamine sulfinic acid in a neutralizing medium.
