Meglumine Diatrizoate is an antibody that specifically binds to a surface antigen in the human body. It has been used for the diagnosis of cervical cancer and skin cancer. Meglumine Diatrizoate is also used as a contrast agent during imaging of the digestive system, kidneys, or other organs. This drug has a depressant effect on cells and can be used as treatment for renal failure. Meglumine Diatrizoate is administered intravenously or intra-arterially with sodium citrate as a carrier solution. The diatrizoate ion inhibits DNA synthesis by binding to the phosphate groups of DNA, inhibiting polymerase chain reactions (PCR). This drug is also used in diagnostic procedures to identify substances such as glucose in blood plasma or urine.
