Description:

Benzyl Laurate is a chemical compound that is used as a cross-linking agent in the production of polymers. Benzyl Laurate is an oily liquid with a high viscosity and a low boiling point. It can be prepared by acylation of benzyl alcohol with oleic acid, or by reacting benzene with lauric acid in the presence of sodium hydroxide. The reaction solution is neutral to acidic, depending on the concentration of the reactants and the pH of the solution. The reaction proceeds more rapidly at higher temperatures and if there are no impurities present. Benzyl Laurate has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit particle production.
