Thiopropazate dihydrochloride is a prodrug that is metabolized to the active form, thiopropazate, which is a sulfonamide. Thiopropazate dihydrochloride has been shown to be effective in the treatment of infectious diseases and inflammatory diseases. The drug's effectiveness in treating these disorders was demonstrated using a double-blind cross-over study with an effective dose of 500 mg per day. This drug is not suitable for patients with high body mass index or those who have autoimmune diseases. It may also cause side effects such as dizziness and gastrointestinal problems.
