6H-Thieno[2,3-b]pyrrole is a potent 5-HT1A receptor antagonist. It has been shown to be a potent antagonist at both the 5-HT1A and 5-HT2 receptors in rat brain. This drug has been shown to be an effective treatment for diabetic neuropathy, retinopathy, and glaucoma. 6H-Thieno[2,3-b]pyrrole also inhibits replication of RNA in human lymphocytes and has antiarrhythmic properties. The pharmacokinetic properties of this drug have not been studied due to its inability to dissolve in water.
